HOW IT HAPPENED

Identifying an opportunity and need for delivering cycle training, both Chris & Sean discussed their vision over a light refreshment at a local establishment, which saw the start of the venture.

Sean Allan and Chris Cooney started Bikeability Edinburgh in 2010. By 2015 they had changed their name to Edinburgh Cycle Training. Edinburgh Cycle Training was incorporated as a company (SC531303) in March 2016. Chris and Sean have over thirty years combined experience in being Cycling Scotland qualified Cycle Instructors.

Initially specialising in delivering all levels of Bikeability in Local Authority and private schools throughout Edinburgh, Chris and Sean eventually became Cycling Mentors to City of Edinburgh Council

In their Cycling mentor roles, Chris and Sean helped many schools develop their own Bikeability programmes, including training hundreds of parent volunteers and teaching staff to deliver Bikeability up to Level 2.

Since incorporation, Edinburgh Cycle Training have provided instructors (all taught by Chris and Sean) for private cycle training, teaching children and adults to cycle, teaching parents to cycle safely on road with their children, teaching commuters how to get to and from work safely and undertake basic roadside repairs.

Since The Coronavirus pandemic hit our shores in early 2020, cycling has soared in popularity. Learning to cycle, learning shared path and on road skills has never been more important. Edinburgh Cycle Training are just the people to help you do just that.
